AXLES:
Front 70mm drive shaft tube welded to Hillman Imp king pin stub assembly.
Honda Civic EN1 steering rack mounted behind axle.
Axle located to chassis by upper "A" frame and two lower leading links with 1/2’ rod ends for lower links and rear of "A" frame and 5/8’ rod end on front of "A" Frame.
Spring and damper units from Suzuki GS 550 with approx 70mm travel, but because the units are mounted well in board wheel travel at end of axle is about 400 mm.
 
Rear Axle
Austin A60 turned up side down to correct wheel rotation as drive from Honda is the opposite direction to a normal drive shaft. Axle is located by "A" arm built from 51x 25mm RHS (box section) with drive shaft passing through left side. Front of "A" arm located to chassis at rear of gear box by 5/8’ rod end. Side ways movement controlled by Panhard rod with 1/2" rod ends. Light coil springs (Front off EB1 Honda Civic will do) fitted to rear axle with damper units fitted inside. Approximately 130mm wheel travel on rear.
 
BRAKES;
Front;
Honda Civic rear brakes are fitted to the front by removing the recess off the backing plate and welding a flat plate on. The drums are 180mm units from the rear of a Suzuki GT380.

Honda Civic front discs and calipers, Disc brakes are not essential)

SIDE BRAKES;
Master Cyls (2) 5/8 Girling.
Equalizer Cyl 3/4 Ford Courier clutch slave cylinder.
 
ENGINE;
Honda Civic 1982 EN1 1335cc, mounted longitudinally in the frame.
 
TRANSMISSION;
Honda Civic 5 speed with spider gears in diff welded.(4 speed will do).
Drive shaft . Honda Civic long axle fitted to A60 female spline and welded.
 
WHEELS;
Front.
275x18 Suzuki GT 250 or 380 rear wheels machined to fit required bearings.
Bearing numbers Outer LM 11749, inner L 44649R, Seal size 52mmO/D x 40mm I/D x 7mm wide.also the following bearings can be used without machining the hubs but the axles have to be machined to suit . 61906 inner, 6203 outter.
Rear wheels.
Centre with 51x25 RHS fitted to 4.5 x 15 rims fitted with 8; 1/4 x 1" stainless steel bead retaining bolts. These rims can be found on some of the early cars such as Austins, Vangaurds some VW Kombi’s etc, also some of the Japanese imports have as spare wheels this size.
