Sporting Trials Competition
Sporting Trials competitions involve driving a car up hills usually grass or dirt and sometimes mud on private property. The Taranaki division of Sporting Trials New Zealand Inc (STNZ) holds events every three weeks during the winter, see the Calendar page or email svhirst@xtra.co.nz

PIC Notes: Breathless anyone?
A sporting trial competition consists of three to eight "sections" each attempted three to six times during the event. A section is marked with numbered pegs beginning with number twelve at the start and getting progressively more difficult with number one at the end . They are set out over steep undulating terrain often with tight turns, off cambers and any thing else the markers can include to make the sections seemingly impassable.

PIC Notes: The pegs are numbered from #12 at the start of the section to #1 at the finish. The sections get progressively steeper and more difficult with the the top drivers getting past #1 peg (cleaning a section) on 20% to 80% of the attempts.
